The players prepared for this competition in the Christmas holidays, working with great effort towards this big day. Here is how they got on:

Two teams took part in the competition; a group of year-seven students represented London Academy in the under 13 boys’ event while students from year 10 and 11 formed the under 16 boys’ team. For the under 13s, it was their first time playing in a national event meaning nerves where high. Nevertheless, they played until the last point with courage and determination. This team finished 2nd in their group, just missing out on the main event by 1 point. Being an anticipated outcome, these boys showed great effort and their teamwork shone throughout the day. Back in the training hall, we will focus on building their game in the hope of gaining a title next year!

For the under 16 boys, this was their year! Being the age category where London Academy teams are dominant, this year’s team did not disappoint. In the group stage, our team beat last year’s champions, University College School, with a stand-out score of 8-0! Morpeth School suffered an identical defeat, meaning that London Academy topped the group. In the semi-final, it was another whitewash against Ernest Bevin College: 8-0. In the end, the under 16 boys proved to be the strongest in the hall by taking the Gold medal with an impressive 6-0 victory against Wallington County Grammar School.
